Overview

The University of Hartford was chartered on Feb. 21, 1957, as a University for the Hartford community. It merged three existing schools, the Hartford Art School, the Hartt School of Music, and Hillyer College.The University of Hartford (UHart) is a private, independent, nonsectarian, coeducational university. The University attracts students from 48 states and 43 countries. The degree programs at the University of Hartford hold the highest levels of accreditation available in the US, including the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET), the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges-Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (NEASC-CIHE)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Location & Facilities

The University of Hartford, or U of H, is a private institution located in central Connecticut, midway between Boston and New York City. Undergraduates at the University of Hartford can choose from more than 80 fields of study, and graduate students can pursue degrees in about 30 programs, including those in the Barney School of Business and the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions. The University has grown to seven schools and colleges and has moved from being a commuter school to a large residential campus.The University of Hartford has more than 6,000 full-time and part-time graduate and undergraduate students. The University offers 82 bachelor's degree programs, 10 associate's degrees, 28 graduate degrees, and 7 certificates or diplomas. The student-faculty ratio is nearly 14:1 U of H also offers dozens of organizations for students to explore, including fraternities and sororities and club and recreational sports. Student athletes can also try out for one of the nearly 20 University of Hartford Hawks sports teams, which compete in the NCAA Division I American East Conference.

Scholarships

Grants and Scholarships are awarded annually to undergraduate students and do not need to be repaid. You will be awarded through the admission and financial aid processes. Please complete your FAFSA early as many of these awards have limited funding. You may be eligible for University, Federal and/or State funding. Assistantship and fellowship opportunities are available on a limited basis to graduate students.
