Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) is a private, co-educational, nonsectarian university founded in 1942 as a junior college by Dr. Peter Sammartino and wife Sally. It got named after an early benefactor Colonel Fairleigh S. Dickinson, co-founder of Becton Dickinson.

You may not know this but FDU happens to be the first American university to own and operate an international campus and currently offers more than 100 individual degree programs to its students. The school has four campuses, two in New Jersey (United States), and one in Canada and in the United Kingdom. It's New Jersey's largest private institution of higher education with 12,000+ students.
















Location & Facilities

The university has two campuses in New Jersey: the College at Florham in Madison and Florham Park, which is on the former estate of Florence Vanderbilt and Hamilton Twombly, and the Metropolitan Campus, close to New York City and spanning the Hackensack River in Teaneck and Hackensack. It also has two international campuses. British Columbia opened in 2007.Landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of Central Park, was also commissioned to design the landscape for the Twombly-Vanderbilt estate (now the College at Florham campus). The main house of the Twombly-Vanderbilt estate, now Hennessy Hall, was designed by architectural firm McKim, Mead, and White in the Georgian Revival style. College at Florham is located in the suburban towns of Madison, New Jersey and Florham Park, on the grounds of the former estate of Hamilton McKownTwombly (1849–1910) and Florence Adele Vanderbilt Twombly. Today, more than 12,000 students from 32 state and 72 countries are enrolled on the University's two campuses in northern New Jersey and its international campuses in Wroxton, England and Vancouver, Canada. FDU's current campuses are in Teaneck, Madison, Vancouver, and Wroxton.

The College offers 80 majors and concentrations in business, hospitality management, liberal arts and sciences.

The College offers a large number of courses in literature, history, political science, fine arts, core, and sociology.

Metropolitan Campus

Offers undergraduate students one of the few opportunities to earn an American college degree while studying in Canada. FDU-Vancouver welcomes students from around the world to create a culturally diverse learning environment. FDU-Vancouver offers resources to students who need additional support in developing their English-language skills before starting degree studies. In this sense, it offers an extensive array of cultural, educational, recreational, social and leadership programs - thus developing well-rounded, confident citizens of the world.
