Overview

University of Charleston is a private institution founded in 1888. UC is a private, non-profit institution with locations in Charleston, Beckley and Martinsburg, West Virginia as well as online. The nationally-recognized outcomes-based curriculum focuses on flexible, learner-centered, and demonstrable learning. Students are prepared to thrive in the real world with skills in Citizenship, Communication, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Ethical Practice, Science, and their chosen career. Classes at UC are geared to do two things: engage students in active learning and let them grow as people. What sets the school apart is that the education is outcomes-focused -- meaning students prove their learning every step of the way, and every class is an exercise in understanding how the coursework relates to the real world.
