The Goethe University was founded in 1914 as a Citizens' University. It is a world-class centre of higher education, and one of the top-ranking Universities in Germany. It was named in 1932 after one of the most famous natives of Frankfurt, the poet and writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It does everything to make international students and scholars feel at home in Frankfurt.
















Location & Facilities

The Goethe University is situated on one of Europe's great rivers, the Main. Frankfurt is a vibrant city with many recreational facilities that cater to the city's international population. It offers an academic education with a clear practical orientation. As one of the leading Universities of applied sciences in Germany, it offers around 40 courses in four Faculties: architecture and civil engineering, computer science and engineering, business and law, social work and health. It also offers many cultural attractions, among them two operas, concert halls, theatres, and a great variety of museums and art galleries.
