Education System



 

Regulated by the Ministry of Education, Singapore spends around 20% of its annual budget on education alone (Against the 5% spent in India). Students in Singapore have to compulsorily attend Junior colleges/Pre-University Institutes/Polytechnic Institutes which provides vocational education up to two to three years.

For international students, Singapore has a separate Council of Private Education under the Ministry of Education. The council takes care of the institutions enrolling students from abroad. Singapore residents are not eligible to take admission in these institutes. Some of the famous international institutes covered under this program are

Eligibility criteria
There are three universities and 33 private institutes in Singapore. Eligibility criteria for admission to each institute is different. For universities like NTU, NUS you will need two years work experience & GMAT score with mandatory with 1st class degree. If you are an undergraduates, you will need to score at least 85% and above. SAT is required for NTU & SMU. NUS doesn't require SAT. Once you have chosen the institute or university that you want to study in, you can download their application form and apply. After completing it, you should send it to the respective institute along with testimonials of earlier education completed. Last but not the least, mention your IELTS score (English language proficiency test required to study in Singapore) in the application. You will be notified if you get shortlisted. You can then apply for a Student’s Pass or Visa.

Located in close proximity to India, Singapore offers internationally compatible education of high quality to international students. However, it is advisable to check the validity of the courses with your home agencies.

Student Pass Applications
Applicants are advised to submit their student pass applications at least two months in advance of the program start date. Please visit the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) website for more related information.

New Applications
New applications are to be submitted at least two months and not more than six months from the course commencement date.
